William's 1 yr session
I first met this family when William’s big sisters came in for their photo session for the Little Ballerina’s project we did in support of the Starlight Foundation. They were only 4 and 2 at then, and were such gorgeous little subjects to capture.
So I was super excited when mum called to say that she now had a little boy and wanted to do a photography session to celebrate his first birthday with his big sisters.
Natasha had the idea of capturing his one year photo with a Where the While Things Are theme. She had organized a banner, hat and tail and of course the book to tell the story. William looked super cute in the little hat, and didn't even try to pull it off. We knew that we were capturing an image that would be featured as a larger print for their wall.
His little outfit was too cute not to photograph on our bed as well, and mum ended up loving another series of photos that she decided to display as a special storyboard for his bedroom.
We then captured William with his big sisters. They were both so excited to be able to do a photo session with their little brother. They are both such little mothers to him, and wanted to smother him with kisses and cuddles.
Angelina is 6, & she loved posing for photos. She proudly told me she doesn’t love pink., just the 4 shades of pink, light, middle, dark and hot pink :)
Ivy told me she is exciting about starting big school next year and making new friends.
Mum ended up choosing a 9 gallery storyboard printed on metal for display the photos. It captured perfectly the energy of her active girls, and told the story perfectly about William's relationship with his sisters.
It’s one of the things I love most about being a professional family photographer, that I get to document a families journey, and to create a legacy for the kids that they will be able to treasure. These photos will be looked back on with smiles, of when the girls welcomed their baby brother into the family. I always imagine these kids when they older, looking back at their photos, remembering all the special moments and excitement of when they welcomed their new baby brother. It's as time goes on that we truly understand the value of photography.
